The Wests & Easts winger's nickname was "Mad Mick". After retirement, he coached lower grades in Sydney.

I knew Mick in the 80s.
He loves horses and is a top bloke.

Yes, Mick was my coach in the under 13s at Cardiff RLFC NSW. Prior to Mick's coaching I was a member of Cardiff primary school rugby league side but rarely, if ever got a game - if there were 14 players available, you guessed it, I was the reserve.
Nevertheless, after an ill fated attempt to join the Saturday competition that sent me home crying to my mother, after a year or two l plucked up the courage to register for the under 13s side and with Mick as coach.
We went on to be major and minor premiers that year where I played every game and was arguably one of the first picked thanks to Mick's coaching.
I played another season of rugby league before transferring over to Wanderers RUFC and going on to be a regular member of Wanderers reserve grade side. Although, while I was often on the bench for first grade I never actually got a run at the top level. But all of which I am sure wouldn't have been possible without Mick's coaching. So I'm not surprised that Mick went on to coach at senior level. However, I am surprised that Mick wasn't one of the 7 players sent off in that particularly infamous and fiery first grade match in Sydney playing for Easts?
