In the mid-1970s the Sydney RL organised a "consolation" mini-comp for the remaining teams who didn't make the (then) final
four semis that year. The series lasted just one year (if I recall right), but the stocky and hithero undistinguished Barry Andrews was a real stand-out guiding Cronulla to victory in the mini-comp final.

This was actually the ephemeral Endeavour Cup in which the beefy Barry spearheaded Cronulla to victory in 1971.

Barry was a great player, is a terrific little bloke and a pleasure to spend time with.
